South Shore is a new-build block of 42 shared-ownership apartments on the exclusive Victory Pier development in Gillingham, Kent. We consulted with residents who had concerns over the poor management by the current Managing Agent and were also facing huge Section 20 repair bills for work which they deemed unnecessary. We were informed that the Leaseholders had already explored the Right To Manage although they had been advised that as shared-owners they did not qualify for this process.
After our initial consultation process we advised that the Leaseholders did in fact qualify for the Right To Manage and so it was commenced. We secured management rights for the newly formed Right To Manage Company commencing October 2014. The Leaseholders now benefit from being in full control of the Service Charge budget, contractors and repairs. They will also be able to compile their own “planned maintenance” schedule so that repairs are spread over an appropriate length of time to avoid any sudden lump bills.
